Garden Room Extension with a Home Bar

The Brief

The homeowners wanted more room to relax and entertain without moving house. The plan was a single-storey garden room extension tied neatly into the existing property, built to feel like a natural part of the home rather than a bolt-on. They wanted plenty of glass to bring the garden inside, a bright modern finish, and a space they could use all year round as a home bar and lounge.

What We Did

Our work included:

• Built the extension shell: A single-storey composite-clad extension tied into the existing home, with proper foundations, insulation and a weathertight roof for year-round use.
• Fitted anthracite bifold doors: A run of anthracite aluminium bifold doors across the rear, opening the room fully onto the garden and flooding the space with natural light.
• Laid a new porcelain patio: A porcelain patio directly outside the bifolds, giving a clean level threshold between the room and the garden.
• Built the bar: A fitted timber-slat bar with a marble worktop, plumbed and wired ready for drinks fridges and glassware.
• Fitted out the interior: Herringbone flooring throughout and an LED ceiling detail to set the mood, finishing the room as a proper lounge and bar.
• Finished and handed over: All trades coordinated in-house, snagged and cleaned down, and the finished room handed over ready to use.

The Result

A bright, year-round entertaining space that feels like a natural part of the home. The bifold doors and porcelain patio blur the line between inside and out in the summer, while the insulated build keeps it warm and usable through the winter. The finished home bar and lounge has become the favourite room in the house, and the composite cladding will stay looking sharp with almost no upkeep.
